Brain Infections UK

Welcome to Brain Infections UK, a group of clinical research studies since 2010 aiming to improve our understanding of potentially debilitating infections that can affect the brain such as encephalitis, meningitis and HIV. These conditions have a tremendous impact on the quality of life of large numbers of people in UK, but until now there has been little research done to try and tackle this.

Our studies cover brain infections in both adults and children and bring together leading experts with a range of specialisms including neurology, infectious diseases, acute and emergency medicine, medical microbiology and virology.

We also have a portfolio of global studies (Brain Infections Global and ZikaPLAN) and work closely with the NIHR Health Protection Unit in Emerging and Zoonotic Infections. We are providing neurology and immunology expertise on the ISARIC4C (Coronavirus Clinical Characterisation Consortium).
