Brain Infections UK

Brain infections have tremendous impact on the quality of life of large numbers of people in UK, but the there is relatively little research in this area. There are a number of explanations for this including specific challenges posed by neurological infections, the fragmented nature of expertise in this area, and the limited infrastructure.

Brain Infections UK is a new collaboration between adult and paediatric specialists in neurology, infectious diseases, acute and emergency medicine, and medical microbiology and virology aiming to overcome these issues. We are working on a portfolio of new research studies into neurological infectious diseases which are on the NIHR portfolio and have comprehensive local research network (CLRN) support.
